
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Barry Scott Dempsey, who passed away on February 18, 2025, in Vancouver, British Columbia. Barry was born on November 28, 1962, in Rome, Georgia, to T.A. and Ovell Dempsey. He grew up in Cedartown, Georgia, where he spent his childhood surrounded by family and friends who loved him dearly.
Barry’s journey took him across the globe, living in London, England for a year and spending some time in California before ultimately making his home in Canada about 10 years ago. His adventurous spirit and love for exploration led him to create a life full of diverse experiences, all of which enriched the lives of those around him.
In his professional life, Barry worked in the field of visual effects, where he brought his creative talents to life, contributing to countless projects that captivated and inspired others.
Barry had a deep appreciation for the simple joys of life. He was passionate about music, the beach, and spending time outdoors. His love of food was legendary, and he could always be found in search of a great meal or sharing stories of his culinary adventures.
Barry is survived by his brother, Clay and his family of Acworth GA; his former spouse, lifelong friend & soulmate, Wendy Tatt, of California, and countless friends whose lives he touched in ways too many to count. A celebration of his life was held at Glenhaven Memorial Chapel, 1835 East Hastings St. Vancouver, British Columbia on March 8, 2025 where friends and family will gathered to honor his memory and share stories of the joy he brought to the world.
The family of Barry will have another celebration of his life on Saturday, March 15, 2025 at 2:30pm in the chapel of the Gammage Funeral Home with Rev. Wayne Benefield officiating. Interment will follow in the family lot of Polk Memory Gardens Cemetery.
The family of Barry will receive family and friends on Friday, March 14, 2025 from 5:30pm until 8:30pm at the Gammage Funeral Home, and on Saturday, March 15, 2025 from 1:30pm until the funeral hour at the Gammage Funeral Home.
