The festivities for the holiday season continue in Polk County, and people gathered in downtown Cedartown to celebrate with the ringing of bells at a local landmark.
The Girl Scouts Glee Club in Polk County sang at Remix at Moore’s while a Santa tracker was displayed on a screen behind and the audience enjoyed hot chocolate in the first-ever bell ringing event to honor the holiday season locally.
Jannah Sorrell and her family joined others at the downtown Cedartown historic storefront for the bell-ringing event, which included carols, candy and a chance for participants to try mint and candy cane flavored soda available at Remix at Moore’s.
The event was organized and recognized in proclamation by the cities of Aragon, Rockmart and Cedartown during the month of December as a way to spread holiday cheer during 2020, and officially is marked as Ring the Bell Day locally.
Bell ringers stood outside the store for a full two minutes in the chilly early night of Christmas Eve ahead of Santa’s ride across the United States later tonight as he made his way over Europe during the event.

Cedartown Commission chair Matt Foster, who read off Cedartown’s proclamation honoring Ring the Bell day locally, joined in the event as well.
