Multiple firearms being found in the same home where Jimmy Brian Blackmon is accused of homicide will keep him in jail until a jury decides on whether he is proven innocent or guilty.
Blackmon faced a court hearing this morning to decide whether he would get to keep his bond or whether he would remain in jail after he was taken back to the Polk County Jail after nearly two years under house arrest.
Tallapoosa Circuit Superior Court Judge Mark Murphy ruled that Blackmon will remain behind bars without bond after he was found to have violated the conditions of his bond that required him not to possess any firearms.
Law enforcement when taking him into custody found multiple firearms at his residence.
Additional evidence was provided to the court about threats made against individuals during the hearing this morning.
The deciding factor were the guns found in his possession.
With his bond denied, Blackmon will have to remain in jail pending a trial date set for Spring 2024.
He stands accused of the shooting death of his wife Ginger Leanne Green Blackmon in October 2020, and then went on the run for eight days until he was located law enforcement in Carroll County and returned to Polk to face justice.
He was issued a bond by former Judge Meng Lim in 2021, and remained under house arrest until he was booked back into the Polk County Jail last week.
