Smoke lingered in the area around the Tallatoona Polk Head Start after a brush fire next door to the school was brought under control by firefighters, according to Polk County Public Safety Director Randy Lacey.
Lacey said that around a quarter acre of land was impacted by the fire, which required the aid of local Georgia Forestry personnel to create fire breaks around the limited brush fire in a small wooded area that separates the Tallatoona Polk Head Start and a self-storage facility. Cedartown Fire and Polk County Volunteer Fire also responded to the scene.
Firefighters responded around 4:20 p.m. to the brush fire. No injuries were reported.
