A job fair to help those who are being impacted by the layoffs at Gildan in Cedartown is coming up this Friday, and those needing some new hires can find at least 100 potential workers to take up those roles.
Gildan is hosting a job fair on Friday, December 16 from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the plant at 270 North Park Blvd., Cedartown to help the employees impacted by the layoffs, being finalized with the plant closure coming in February 2023.
Along with knowledgeable staff to help those navigating what can be accomplished with the Workforce Innovation Opportunity Act, the Development Authority of Polk County is seeking local businesses to also come and help fill in with additional opportunities.
Table space will be provided for those who want to take part and conduct interviews or provide information, and those interested should ensure to have translators on staff to help, since a large portion of the workforce are Spanish speakers.

GNTC will also be on hand for workers to give information about Hope, Pell Grant and training programs offered by the community college.
