Municipal Court Judge Andrew Roper made official today his plans to run for another bench, this one covering the entire Tallapoosa Circuit.
Roper – Municipal Court Judge for Cedartown, Rockmart and the Magistrate Judge for Polk County courts – launched his campaign on social media this evening with an announcement and a new Facebook page for a run for Superior Court.
He’ll be challenging a scandal-embroiled Chief Judge Meng Lim in the primary that will be held in late May for a four-year term on the bench. He previously ran for the seat in 2015.
Roper, who also serves as local attorney in Cedartown, posted the following online:
“Today, after prayerful consideration and with the incredible support and encouragement of my family, friends, and colleagues throughout our circuit, I am excited to announce my candidacy for the position of Judge of Superior Court of the Tallapoosa Judicial Circuit in the upcoming non-partisan election on May 24, 2022. I look forward to earning your support and humbly seek your prayers as I strive to bring compassionate but firm justice for the safety of our families, respect and fairness to all who appear in our courts, and uncompromised integrity to our local judiciary.”
A further announcement is set to follow. His campaign launch online comes as qualifying begins on Monday for local and state offices, which includes a trio of County Commission races, four school board seats, the Superior Court seat, and state house and Senate seats. Check back for more as it becomes available.
