The Cedartown Bulldogs won again and remain undefeated, and during their final home game of the regular season they crowned a Homecoming Queen.
Senior Maritza Nunez was crowned queen to conclude the halftime ceremony honoring the entire court, and 2021 Queen Rossy Cruz was on hand along with Principal Scott Hendrix to honor the new Bulldog monarch.
Amiyah Powell was the first runner-up, and Edy Lee was the second runner-up on the court.
Nunez is the daughter of Juan and Estella Nunez.
She’s a member of the Junior International Optimist Club, the Key Club, Student Council and the Superintendent’s Advisory Council. She also is a member and team leader for production of The Cedar Log, and plays on the Lady Dawgs Soccer team.
Nunez wants to go onward to complete her education to become a dental hygienist at Georgia Highlands College. She wasn’t expecting Friday night’s announcement.
“I was really surprised,” she said in an interview following the ceremony with WGAA. “I never thought I would be homecoming queen.”
