Cedartown man remains jailed on multiple drug charges

A Cedartown man remained in jail with no bond set after he was arrested on multiple drug charges following a brief chase before a wreck on a motorcycle, according to reports from the Polk County Police.

Jamie Sumlin, 34, of 488 Hugh Deems Road, Cedartown, was taken into custody on Wednesday evening, July 15, after police attempted to stop him at the intersection of South Main Street at the Canal Street extension. Police spotted him at 9:02 p.m. and after Sumlin failed to pull over for a suspected DUI traffic stop, police followed him on the motorcycle until he wrecked in the yard of an Antioch Road home.

Police reported that Sumlin was taken into custody and transported to Polk Medical Center for treatment of injuries, and was later released and taken to the Polk County Jail where he remained without bond.

Sumlin was charged with felonies for possession of a firearm or knife during the commission of or attempt to commit certain felonies, possession of cocaine, possession of ecstasy, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon or first offender, an manufacture/deliver/distribute/sell/possess with intent to distribute controlled substances, and misdemeanors for driving while license suspended or revoked, possession of marijuana, obstruction of law enforcement officers, failure to maintain lane, and reckless driving.
