For those who have been looking for something to go explore as the world is getting back to normal, then a spot in downtown Cedartown is definitely worth a visit for those who haven’t been before.
On Main Street below the neon Coca-Cola sign is the doorway to a collection of memorabilia spanning the decades of the soft drink’s existence, from antique bottles to full sized delivery trucks and much more in between. Opened in the summer of 2016, the Cedartown Museum of Coca-Cola Memorabilia has remained a place to stop by when visiting Cedartown on the weekend, but in recent months the COVID-19 pandemic forced it to close its doors.
They were closed through the end of April, but now are back open to the public, while still taking precautions to keep the spread of the virus at bay within the museum.
Hours currently are Thursdays through Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Parking is available behind Main Street behind the museum, with electric charging stations available.

They aren’t the only ones who are open back to the public and available for exploration. Just around the corner on West Avenue in downtown Cedartown is the Polk County Historical Society museum, which opened back up on June 12, and on Thursday the Genealogical Research Library – the Hawkes Library on College Street – was also back open.
No groups larger than 10 are allowed in the museum, and hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday through Saturday. The Hawkes Library will allow no more than 2 patrons in at a time due to the limited space.
For those wanting to check out the museum, go to polkhist.com to learn more. Events are also in the works for this fall, with more information on that to come.
Rockmart’s History Museum is also back open to the public, and is the perfect stop for those exploring the Silver Comet Trail in the downtown area on South Marble Street. It reopened on June 17 and is open Tuesdays through Fridays, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturdays 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
