Cedartown Police end chase at Convenience Center on Canal St.

Cedartown Police helped their brother officers in Alabama end a chase that got up to high speeds on Highway 278 West from Piedmont, according to local police.

Per CPD officials, local officers were requested to help from the Piedmont Police Department in Alabama as they were chasing a driver in a car that was coming across the state line at speeds exceeding 120 mph.

Officer responded, and one posted just west of Canal Street to respond to the chase while two other officers blocked the intersection heading onto Adamson and to West Avenue to keep the driver on Canal Street.

The driver, later identified as 40-year-old Amber Lynn Kendricks of Anniston, Alabama, immediately tried to turn into the Canal Street Convenience Center and was forced to stop when she realized there was no escape.

Cedartown Police ended up charging Kendricks with fleeing or attempting to elude, reckless driving, failure to maintain lane, improper use of central turn lane, failure to yield right of way, driving while license revoked, and concealing a tag. Additional charges may be pending, as well as those involved in Alabama prior to the chase entering Georgia.

She was taken into custody without further incident.

Check back for additional details on Thursday when more information is available from Cedartown PD.
