Cedartown Commissioners took some time out during their January meeting to honor youth in the community who reached the pinnacle of competition this year.
The first-ever Game Day Cheer state title for the Cedartown Lady Bulldogs in 2023 after the team took on dozens of others around the state to be considered the tops in Georgia for Class 3/4A teams in cheering on the sidelines.
City Commissioner Matt Foster read off the proclamation honoring the team when they came to Monday’s meeting to be honored by the City of Cedartown for their title win. They are the latest team to come into the chambers to be honored by Cedartown Commissioners, including some competition cheer squads in the past who have been title winners.
Foster said that he was honored to be able to recognize many of his former students who are on the team after his many years in the classroom at Northside Elementary and Cedartown Middle School.




The team brought with them some others who were proud to be on hand: namely friends and family who have shown support to the team throughout their season.
Game Day Cheer brings some of the competitive nature of the Competition Cheer squads, but sticking to traditional sideline cheers, pyramid formations and chants performed by youth on Friday nights while rooting for the home team on the gridiron. It is a relatively new competition sport to be recognized by the GHSA.
