County Administration, Public Works buildings re-open after cleaning from COVID-19 exposure

The Polk County Administration building and the Public Works department are opening back up today after being closed Monday following cleaning over the weekend due to the facilities having been visited by a county employee who tested positive for COVID-19 last week.

County Manager Matt Denton reported that both facilities are now back open to the public after sanitation measures were taken, and allowed to air out on Monday after the Sunday scrubbing down.

The County Administration building houses the tax offices locally, as well as the Polk County Board of Elections. The new Public Works facility completed in recent years houses just the lone department.

Denton added that so far there have been no additional issues surrounding cleaning.

Should anyone feel concerned about their potential exposure to COVID-19 due to a visit to the County Administration office prior to its closing, free tests for the virus are available at the Polk County Health Department and other testing sites around the area in Rome, Cartersville and the Dallas area in Paulding County.
