The Polk County Commission will only have finances to talk about during their work session later this afternoon, and a light agenda compared to the norm for their Tuesday evening session as they return back to Zoom calls for the time being to conduct their business for their August sessions.
Today’s zoom call for the Commission’s work session begins at 5:15 p.m. and will go over the report from the Finance Committee, review agenda items and plans to adjourn without any public hearings on delegations planned for this month.
On Tuesday, Commissioners will vote a new agreement being made with the Chamber of Commerce (additional information to follow on this one folks as soon as I am allowed to talk about it) plus approval for an amendment to the defined contribution plan for county employees, a request to accept CARES Act funding for COVID-19 relief, plus grants for the family drug court, the mental health court and the adult felony drug court.
Commissioners will also decide on the special election request for the District 2 vote in November for the seat currently occupied by Commissioner Linda Liles, who is serving out the rest of the year on an appointment unless voters elect for her to stay through the rest of the term.
The commission is also bringing a previously covered item from the county commission back up after it was determined it needed review from the Ordinance committee on the policy regarding rehiring of employees who have left and seek jobs back.
Tuesday’s meeting will also feature a finance report, comments from the commission and an executive session for pending litigation.
Below are the agendas for the late afternoon work session and Tuesday’s regular session in the evening. See the links above to join in the Zoom sessions.
