Groundbreaking expected in September

Restaurant development is moving at a faster pace than ever along the Nathan Dean Parkway corridor as another national chain picks a spot in Polk County to build a new location.

Culver’s is the latest to announce that they’ll be building a restaurant in Rockmart, taking over an outparcel lot situated around the entrance to Walmart.

City officials have been working with the new franchise location’s owner to determine a timetable of when they’ll begin construction on a 2+ acre lot directly across from the car wash in the outparcel around the shopping complex.

Construction is expected to begin in September, city officials reported. A groundbreaking has not yet been scheduled.

The restaurant chain has many locations across the Southeast and Midwest, stretching as far west as Texas and far north as Michigan, and many spots in between.

Culver’s is mainly located within the metro Atlanta area, so this foray into Polk County will bring the chain into Northwest Georgia. The closest locations are currently in Kennesaw, Acworth or Newnan.

Compared to other franchise chain eateries, Culver’s is a relatively young company. The first Culver’s opened in Sauk City, Wisconsin in 1984 and has spread to many locations across the country since.

They feature burgers, chicken and other sandwiches, and frozen custard. They also have fried cheese curds, a Wisconsin staple at diner-style restaurants for generations.

Based on similar projects over the past years, Culver’s should be completed by no later than Spring 2025 pending no delays due to weather or supply chain issues for materials and equipment.
