Daniel Johnson begins new term on the Aragon City Council

The Aragon City Council gained a new member with a swearing-in ceremony held this afternoon at city hall.

Johnson, the only candidate to qualify in the now-called-off special election for the City of Aragon’s open seat, took the oath of office around 2 p.m. this afternoon from Aragon Municipal Court Judge Terry Wheeler. Johnson had his son Zakri hold the Holy Bible while he took the oath.

He said he looks forward to getting right back to work for the citizens of the City of Aragon.

“With my experience here as an employee of the city in the past, I look forward to being able to start lending my support to the employees, the mayor and council as we try and work to get back to normal at this time.”

Johnson previously served the city in his most recent post as the Public Works Director prior to his departure from the job, and now his return as a council member. Prior to serving in Public Works, Johnson was an Aragon Police Officer who began with the city in 2010.

His first meeting will be on September 17, when the council and mayor reconvene at 6 p.m. for a work session, and 7 p.m. for their regular session at city hall.
