Some good news from Rockin Rooster & Happy Hen owner Helen Riley: despite the theft of her shop’s donation box earlier this month, all the money lost has been made back up.
Riley, who reported to Polk.Today about the theft of the box last week, said that she was able to turn over video evidence to police and provide a suspect, but no information has yet passed this way about an arrest. Stay tuned.
But the good news is that the loss of the money didn’t slow down her effort at all. In fact, many people in the community reached out to provide their help.
Riley said that people of all ages stopped by her store last week to help, and that additional funds raised helped not only provide spay and neutering for the adopted shop cat Bug, but others as well.
She added that “some people came and shopped and some just came to meet Bug” during the Saturday market held yesterday, and that aside from raising money to directly help local cats around her store be vaccinated and spayed or neutered, five families were helped with clothing, food, and household items assistance.
On an editorial aside, it is good to see a story turn out with a positive ending.
