Distance Learning Parent meetings coming up as signups coming to a close this afternoon at PSD

Parents had until the end of the day to make sure their Distance Learning applications are turned into the Polk School District, and with those complete, the district is setting up meetings for parents in Cedartown and Rockmart to provide additional information about what follows.

Superintendent Laurie Atkins said lines remained long this afternoon as the PSD’s application process for distance learning wrapped up, and dates and times are in place for the meetings for parents, one at Cedartown and the other at Rockmart High Schools.

Parents can attend either session so long as they are able to make one or the other. The meeting is mandatory for parents who have signed their students up for distance learning. The Cedartown meeting will cover students on the western side of Polk County – including Cherokee, Northside, Westside and Youngs Grove Elementary Schools. Eastside and Van Wert parents are encouraged to attend the Rockmart meeting.

The Cedartown session is being held in the Polk County College and Career Academy campus building at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 21. The Rockmart High School meeting on Thursday, July 23 is also starting at 5:30 p.m.

More about the Roadmap Back to PSD and distance learning can be found on the Polk School District website. Those who enroll their students for distance learning will have to remain in place through the first semester.
