Whether you want to blame COVID-19 or the fact that Halloween falls on a Saturday this year, the sum of the news is this: Halloween events usually held in downtown Cedartown and Rockmart are off this year, and the City of Aragon is planning no formal events either for the end of the spooky season.
The Downtown Cedartown Associated posted on Monday that annual Trick-or-Treating downtown is off this year because Halloween falls on a Saturday, and with most businesses closed on Main Street it wouldn’t be possible to hold formal events. The annual costume contest and pet costume contest are off this year as well.
Rockmart’s annual trick-or-treating event in downtown on South Marble Street is also off this year.
The City of Aragon’s elected officials agreed with the city during their work session in September to allow people to Trick-or-Treat door-to-door if they choose to, but won’t be holding any formal events. City police are being encouraged to hand out candy from their patrol vehicles during the evening when families are out and about.
All three cities have not put any initiatives in place to prohibit families from going out on Halloween this year, which falls on Saturday at the end of next month.
Additional information about other Halloween events will be forthcoming as information becomes available.
