Drug officers arrest three in Johnson Lake Road raid early this week

A trio of people were arrested at a Johnson Lake Road residence on Monday by drug agents who found less than an ounce of fentanyl and methamphetamine following a months-long investigation, according to officials.

Derrick Franklin Adams, 51; Kayla Caroline Fincher, 33; and Randall Scott Hulsey, 62 were all charged with various drug violations during a combined North Georgia High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) Task Force and Northwest Georgia Drug Task Force (NWGA DTF) raid on a Johnson Lake Road residence on Monday morning.

Officials from the North Georgia HIDTA Task Force reported that they concluded the initial part of their investigation on Monday into trafficking allegations, with Adams being their main target at the time.

The NWGA DTF was called into help on Monday with securing search warrants and going into the residence on Johnson Lake Road where Adams and Hulsey live. Fincher was also found there at the time.

Law enforcement took the trio into custody and after searching the residence found under an ounce of fentanyl, and under an ounce of methamphetamine.

Adams and Fincher were also both found to have felony probation violation warrants for their arrest.

Bond was denied for Adams, who remains in the Polk County Jail as of this posting on felony charges of three counts of manufacture/deliver/distribute/sell/possess with intent to distribute controlled substance, three counts of possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, two counts of use of a communication facility in committing or facilitating a felony act, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of methamphetamine with intent.

Fincher remains in jail with bond denied as well on felony charges of two counts of probation violation, possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, possession of a Schedule I or II controlled substance with intent, possession of methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine with intent.

Hulsey was held on a $10,000 bond and released today on two felony counts of possession of a Schedule II controlled substance.

North Georgia HIDTA officials reported that the investigation continues. Their work continues toward curbing the increasing amount of fentanyl traffic within the North Georgia area.

Polk County Police, Floyd County Police, Rome Police and the Whitfield County Sheriffs Office all have personnel participating with the North Georgia HIDTA which is overseen by the Drug Enforcement Agency.

The Northwest Georgia Drug Task Force is made up of agents (in training) within Polk County, as well as Paulding and Haralson Counties and are overseen by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
