DTF wraps investigation with arrests, seizures of guns and drugs

The Northwest Georgia Drug Task Force took guns and drugs off the street after arrests and a search on Thursday afternoon, according to officials.

Reginald Dandrae White, 33, of a Rockmart address and Jakylan Thyjae Blackwood, 19, of an Aragon address, were both arrested on Thursday and booked into the Polk County Jail on multiple charges as DTF agents first nabbed White in a traffic stop, and then arrested Blackwood while they were executing a search warrant on White’s house.

Agents – with the help of a Rockmart Police K-9 and Polk County Police – found Blackwood in the yard of a Jones Street address with a handgun and drugs in his pockets as he was taken into custody.

They also found four rifles – including two assault-style rifles – plus at least four ounces of methamphetamine, cocaine and pills during the raid on the residence.

NWGADTF Commander Steven Sweatt said the arrest on Thursday afternoon and subsequent search concluded an investigation that spanned more than a month.

“We are thankful to our fellow officers at the Rockmart Police Department and Polk County Police Department for their help in our search,” Sweatt said. “Our goal is to continue to work with local law enforcement across our three counties to continue to get dangerous drugs and weapons off the street.”

White remained in the Polk County Jail and denied bond on felony charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of methamaphetamine with intent, trafficking in cocaine, illegal drugs, marijuana or methamphetamine, possession of cocaine, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of tools for the commission of a crime, possession of a schedule II controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, trafficking, and six counts of possession of firearm or knife during commission of or attempt to commit certain felonies.

Blackwood was charged with felonies for possession of cocaine, drugs: manufacture/deliver/distribute, possession of a firearm or knife during commission of or attempt to commit certain felonies and a misdemeanor charge of drugs not in original container.

Sweatt asks anyone with information about drug trafficking in the community to reach out to the Northwest Georgia Drug Task Force with information by calling (770) 646-9175.
