Election 2020: Another 700+ voters cast ballots on Tuesday, early voting continues until week’s end

Early voting continues today on a normal schedule through until 5 p.m., and will be ongoing Thursday with extended hours before wrapping up on Friday afternoon before the big day comes on November 3.

Another round of early voting on Tuesday – lasting until 7 p.m. – brought the total number of ballots up by another 736 in person, and 95 more absentee ballots delivered to the Polk County Board of Elections.

That put the overall total of early votes and absentee ballots combined at 11,498 for Polk County since early voting began. The Board of Elections has set a goal of 13,000 early votes or absentee ballots cast by Friday, and are now 1,502 votes shy of that goal.

Since early voting began, 3.1+ million early votes have been cast and are waiting to be counted on Election Night. That’s just a fraction of the more than 73 million ballots cast nationwide heading into November 3, according to the U.S. Elections Project tracking.

There’s still time to get to one of the two polling places in Polk County – in Cedartown at the County Administration building at 144 West Ave., or in Rockmart at the Nathan Dean Community Center at 605 Goodyear Ave. – through this afternoon at 5 p.m., from Thursday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., or Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. for the final day of early voting.

Voters can visit either precinct no matter what their polling place is for early voting.

You can find out about your voting status, your precinct for election day if you aren’t voting early for some reason, and more by visiting the Secretary of State’s My Voter Page. Additionally, they have a tool to help track your absentee ballot if you are voting by mail to ensure it has made it back into the Board of Elections without issue before November 3 at 7 p.m. (Note: you have to provide login information to use the Absentee ballot tracker. Simple to use with basic information involved.)

The easiest way to get an absentee ballot at this time is by requesting one through the Secretary of State’s website, and the simplest way to return it is in-person via the Drop Box.
