Update 6:30 p.m.:
Expect a historic turnout in Polk County and across the nation based on early voting and today’s combined tallies of ballots cast.
So far, at least 3,100 voters have come to the polls on Election Day in Polk County, and with early voting totals it brings it more than 16,700 voters.
Totals were not available with a 6 p.m. update from the Board of Elections for Cedartown and Lake Creek, but the totals so far combined with 4 p.m. tallies bring that figure to near the 17,000 mark, in the 60% range of the election.
Ballot numbers cast so far include 523 in Aragon, 299 in Blooming Grove, 412 in Fish Creek, 689 in Rockmart and 330 at Youngs Grove.

Update 5 p.m.:
The Board of Elections is getting busy in the final stretch of the voting day, and the numbers continue to increase.
With the 4 p.m. update, Elections Coordinator Brande Coggins reported no issues still at the polls, but numbers have gone past 2,500 for additional voters casting a ballot on Election Day.
The total stood an hour ago at 2,510 ballots cast just today, and combined with the 13,676 ballots already cast in early voting puts the overall total so far at 16,186 votes cast.
Cedartown had the highest vote count as of an hour ago at 510, with Rockmart not far behind at 471 after leading most of the day.
388 voters cast a ballot in Aragon, 218 voters visited Pine Bower Baptist at the Blooming Grove precinct, 320 stopped in at Victory Baptist at Fish Creek, 346 voted at Lake Creek’s precinct and 257 at the Youngs Grove precinct as of 4 p.m.

Update 2:15 p.m.:
Six of the seven precincts have reported numbers back again, and the totals keep climbing through what continues to be a record turnout for Polk County.
The tally now sits at 1,775 ballots cast on Election Day, with the largest tally still coming from the Rockmart precinct as of 2:10 p.m. per Elections Coordinator Brande Coggins. That tally does not include an updated Cedartown number, so the previous report of 245 was included with the increase in figures.

Rockmart’s precinct had 369 voters as of this latest update, Aragon reported 304 and Lake Creek had 258 ballots cast as of the latest update. Blooming Grove had 159 voters, Fish Creek 247, and Youngs Grove had 193 ballots cast.
Check back for additional updates through the afternoon on ballot totals coming in, and later in the evening for the first round of results when early voting and absentee ballots are released.
Update 12:45 p.m.:
Polk County voters are coming out if they hadn’t already, and more than 1,400 have taken part in Election Day 2020 as the lunch hour is coming to a close.
In the latest update from the Board of Elections, they put the figure of voters who have cast a ballot today at 1,464 votes and no lines at any of the seven precincts that are reporting back so far. Elections Coordinator Brande Coggins said that the largest tally so far remains at Rockmart, who has hosted 289 voters on the day.
Cedartown had 245 voters after the lunch hour, Aragon reported 256, Blooming Grove had 132, Fish Creek had 185, Lake Creek cited 207 voters and Youngs Grove reported 150.
The latest figures combined with the end of early voting put Polk County’s total at 15,140 ballots in total cast out of the 25,480 registered voters in Polk County.
Update 11:45 a.m.:
Additional numbers from some of the Polk County precincts have come in as of 10 a.m., and put the total at 826 voters in total who had cast a ballot. Updates will be available as new numbers come in.
The 10 a.m. update from Youngs Grove put their tally of ballots cast today at 101, Aragon at 164 and Fish Creek at 147.
Update: 9:22 a.m.:
Additional numbers have come in from the Aragon, Blooming Grove and Youngs Grove precincts.
With 125 votes cast in Aragon so far, 50 votes in Blooming Grove and other 71 at Youngs Grove, that brings the tally of voters today so far to 695 overall when including the initial updates from Cedartown, Rockmart, Lake Creek and Fish Creek.
All precincts are reporting no wait times this morning for voting, Elections Coordinator Brande Coggins reported.

Update 9:05 a.m.:
Elections Coordinator Brande Coggins for the Polk County Board of Elections reported that so far, precincts are not experiencing any issues, and no lines are present in Rockmart, Cedartown, Fish Creek and Lake Creek.
Those four precincts have reported numbers so far as of 9 a.m., and together some 449 have already cast a ballot between those three. No reports yet were available from Youngs Grove, Blooming Grove or Aragon.
Individually, Rockmart has the most voters visit the polls so far with 154. Fish Creek reported 85 as of 9 a.m., and Cedartown had 109 and Lake Creek 101 voters within the first two hours of this morning.

Polls are now open in Polk County, and voters are encouraged to go out and take part by casting a ballot in what is billed an historic and record-breaking election.
Voters have until 7 p.m. to cast a ballot at one of Polk County’s seven precincts, or to get their absentee ballots back to the Board of Elections office (a convenient drop box is available outside) to participate in the election, if they are registered to do so.
Locally, no problems had been reported so far. One official at the Lake Creek precinct that a line had formed when the polls first opened, but it was well gone by 7:45 a.m.
This year’s election already has seen 99,657,079 early votes cast according to the U.S. Voter Project. The largest turnout so far is that in California where more than 12 million ballots were cast before Election Day.
Polk County saw more than 13,000 early votes cast in three weeks of early voting, which concluded on October 30.
Check back through the day for more on tallies (first round will hopefully be available in an hour) for how many people have come out to vote locally.
