The polls are closed, and the votes are counted. Municipal elections across Polk County have closed out for the year and the people have spoken.
Voters came out countywide to decide on future ESPLOST spending, and within the cities on questions over alcohol sales and a contested race in Rockmart and Aragon for the November 2 ballot this year.
The ESPLOST collections will continue through 2031, all three cities saw the approval of alcohol ordinances, and incumbents retain their seats, and a new council member in Aragon was elected tonight.
Ballots were counted this evening at the Polk County Board of Elections to determine the fate of the Ward 1 seat in Rockmart, two council seats in Aragon, and alcohol questions across the board.
Here’s the results from municipal and countywide votes this year:
Countywide
ESPLOST: Construction of a new Rockmart Fine Arts Center, new auxiliary gyms, new turf for football fields, buses, tech, repairs, etc.; Collections continue through 2031
