Opening Day set for early August as work almost done on Rock Market Beverage
So far, so good is how the work on the new Rock Market Beverage – the city’s first permitted liquor store – is shaping up in the Nathan Dean Parkway area behind Chattahoochee Drive.
Owner Clint Brock noted the work should be done on the store before the end of June, but don’t expect it to open immediately. He’s set a date for the beginning of August, so long as the process after construction concludes moves on schedule.
Construction began earlier in the year with the ceremonial groundbreaking held in January, and has progressed well past the stage of foundations and framing. The exterior is nearly done as of Sunday afternoon, with the parking lot and entry and exit driveways still to come as well as finishing up the interior work.
Rock Market Beverage is one of two liquor stores on the rise currently in Rockmart, the other going up near the intersection of Highway 101 and Nathan Dean Parkway. Grant Atkins is in the process of adding onto the Carquest Auto Parts with the second liquor store permitted for the city.
Local voters approved allowing liquor stores in 2021, and a lottery was held after qualified applicants submitted for the opportunity to get the conditional use and licenses to move forward.
The number of stores will be capped at 2 for the time being, with more being allowed as the population grows.

Rock Market Beverage if all things go according to plan won’t be the only new places to open in the space behind Captain D’s and the strip mall that contains Mary Miller State Farm Insurance and other businesses.
Brock has future plans to also include a small commercial business strip mall in the remaining land space, but for now will connect the Rock Market Beverage with the two roadways via a driveway.
