Family Dollar hasn’t been within the building at the corner of North Main Street and Fairmount Avenue for many years, but now the walls have begun to come tumbling down to make way for the newest Jack’s location coming to Cedartown later this year.
Demolition on the Family Dollar began in recent days and most of the building was brought down on Friday and Saturday by an excavator that was still on site and nearly completed its work as of Saturday evening.
The work should be completed by the beginning of this coming week as site work continues for the Jack’s Family Restaurant location approved for a conditional use request earlier this year in January by the Cedartown Commission.

Jack’s Family Restaurants will be bringing its first location to Cedartown later this year with the construction of the latest chain restaurant. They plan to employ up to 50 people including management positions at this Cedartown store.
Jack’s has locations immediately around Polk County in Rome, Tallapoosa, Piedmont, Centre, Jacksonville and Anniston. They began in 1960 in Homewood, Alabama and have a southern-focused theme centered around breakfast, chicken and a variety of burgers and sandwiches.
The restaurant replaces the Family Dollar location that moved out and down to a newer South Main Street building in 2016.
