Families have for decades been served by the caring staff at Lester C. Litesey Funeral Home, which has changed leadership in recent days as a longtime friend of the family takes over day-to-day operations.

The funeral home earlier this week announced in a letter from Taylor Litesey – the latest generation to serve families in 85 years – that he was stepping away from the day-to-day operations of the business and handing it over to longtime Funeral Director and Manager Nathan Womack.

As he takes over the funeral home, Womack will continue to keep it locally owned and operated.

Here’s the full letter shared on social media:

Litesey will take on some part-time roles at Litesey Fuenral Home moving forward, Womack said.

“I’m excited to continue the legacy of the Litesey family in serving the community in time of need, and look forward to still getting to work with Taylor from when we need him to step in and help,” Womack said.

Womack was manager of Freeman Harris Funeral Home for several years before he took on a role with longtime friend Taylor at Litesey Funeral Home. The Cedartown High and Berry College alum grew up with the Litesey family, and considers Talyor his “almost brother.”

“He and I have always been close, so he isn’t going anywhere,” Womack said.

No additional changes are planned other than the change in leadership at this time, Womack said. Though he did chop down the box hedges in front and plans to make some other minor changes along the way.
