GBI charges PCSO deputy on cruelty to children, battery charges

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation was called into determine whether a Polk County Sheriff’s Office deputy had caused a child harm, and he turned himself in on Friday for two misdemeanor charges, per officials with the state investigative body this afternoon.

The GBI press office confirmed charges were filed against PCSO Deputy Jeremy Chubb, who turned himself in late Friday afternoon on charges of cruelty to children in the first degree and battery.

The agency got warrants for his arrest, and after being booked he was later released on bail. The GBI was requested to investigate on August 4, 2022 by the Polk County Police on child abuse allegations.

Though the allegations had nothing to do with his employment, he still resigned from his job per Sheriff Johnny Moats.

The GBI had no additional information to release about the case at this time.
