The Georgia High School Athletic Association doesn’t have enough officials to call every game on Friday night, so two groups of teams will have to wait until Saturday to get their first round games in for the 2020 season.
The GHSA made the announcement online this morning, alongside this AJC article on the issue. The lack of officials who can call playoff games being available for Friday night is the reason why the organization is shifting Class 4A and Class 2A games to Saturday.
The Cedartown Bulldogs is among that group, and but no immediate word yet on a time for kickoff for the Saturday game. Check back for additional details as they become available from Head Coach Jamie Abrams.
The Bulldogs come into the game as Region champions with a 6-2 record having remained perfect in region play for the 2020 season. They host Arabia Mountain for the opening round this year.
Students can purchase tickets today and Tuesday at Cedartown High School. Limit one per student.
Fans can purchase tickets for the home playoff game at Bradford’s Drug Store, Croker’s Hardware, the Farmer’s Store, LiveWire Surplus and online through GoFan.
