A mural featuring a past Hollywood starlet is going up on a Herbert Street wall in downtown Cedartown thanks to the efforts of one local artist looking to spruce up the space around her new studio.

Merari Morales, who previously had studio space in Cedartown and Moravera Brows over in Rockmart, is back downtown and has also been working out of a Herbert Street studio space locally, and decided the side wall needed sprucing up from just its basic green color.

So she’s started with a silhouette of Audrey Hepburn, which she plans to expand all the way down the side of the building to her studio doorway.

For now the basic black outline makes up Hepburn’s face and shoulders, but she plans to add white and gray accents along with flowers to fill the wall with color.

The new mural work contributes to a number of pieces of artwork in the downtown area, which include murals featuring the scenery around Cedartown and Polk County, memories of business past and present, and Coca-Cola among others.
