The Sept. 13 opening date is right around the corner, completes decade long journey to get Jack’s to Cedartown
A 10-year journey for General Manager Kane Hollis comes to a close next Wednesday when the newest location of Jack’s Family Restaurants opens in Cedartown on North Main Street.
The journey that began for Hollis started when he was working at the newest location in Piedmont, Alabama of Jack’s back in 2013. Throughout his time working there, he pushed for the growing chain to build in Polk County, but problems always kept coming up. Customers kept asking “when are you going to build a Jack’s in Cedartown?”
Hollis kept asking corporate the same question, but it took the 10 years of finding just the right spot for Jack’s for the project to finally come to fruition.
Now in less than a week’s time, that longtime dream becomes reality.
“It’s getting closer to the day,” Hollis said.
That day will start early on Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at 5 a.m. A ribbon cutting is also planned with the Polk County Chamber of Commerce and local officials.
Jack’s is just about wrapped up all the work needed to open the new store as of this week.
They were still working on the parking lot as of last week (when the photos above were taken) when Hollis was available to chat, and said that everyone was excited to open the restaurant and get customers into the store. They are additionally still hiring at the new restaurant.
“We’ve got several assistant managers from here,” Hollis said on August 29. “We’ve still got several more crewmembers to hire as well.”
More than 100 applied as of mid-August, he added.
He likens the atmosphere within the newest location as something akin to a more traditional sit-down restaurant (television on the wall and all) but with the ease of ordering and getting food of a fast food chain. A good mix of both for those who enjoy dining in a restaurant, but don’t enjoy the wait times.
The opening of the latest Jack’s is the 22nd location in Georgia, and adds to more than 230 locations across the southeast including Alabama, Mississippi and Tennessee.
“Jack’s is all about growing our footprint across the Southeast to share our handmade biscuits, made-to-order burgers and hand scooped milkshakes with more families,” said Jack’s Family Restaurants CEO Todd Bartmess in a press release sent out about the opening. “We’re thrilled to open in Cedartown to serve the community and surrounding areas.”

When Jack’s opens on September 13, please do be advised that traffic conditions on North Main Street may be difficult for getting in and out of the new location. Turn lanes have been completed into the storefront at the intersection of Fairmount and North Main Street.
This Jack’s is a whole new design for the restaurant chain that has been slowly expanding since it began in Homewood, Alabama in 1960.
Those who can’t wait until next Wednesday can find a Jack’s around Polk in Piedmont and Centre, Alabama; or Rome and Tallapoosa on this side of the state line.
