Longhorn, Dunkin Donuts building process begins with demolition
Old homes that sat on a premium corner lot were turned into a pile of rubble to start off the week as new businesses get ready to build in Rockmart.
The future home of Longhorn Steakhouse and Dunkin Donuts in Rockmart at the intersection of Highway 113 and Nathan Dean Parkway is now beginning to take a form as the houses previously on the site purchased in past months were demolished.
Crews were on site this afternoon continuing the cleanup work of the removal of the former homes, along with a large tree that was on the property to make way for the future restaurant sites.

The two restaurant chains developing the property in Rockmart announced their intentions to annex the land into the City of Rockmart at the beginning of the year, and seek commercial zoning, later approved by the Rockmart City Council in February.
Site work to provide proper grading, the entry and exit points for the parking lots and prepare underground utilities will be the next step after building permits are secured to begin construction.
Longhorn and Dunkin Donuts both have locations around the Polk County area, but none that are close enough to not make it an occasion to go out and leave the area. Currently trips to Rome, Cartersville, Hiram/Dallas or Bremen are required for curing cravings for a sit-down meal from the popular steakhouse or Munchkins from the longtime breakfast chain.

Growth along the Nathan Dean Parkway corridor has increased exponentially with new construction following the opening of Chick-fil-A of Rockmart on the Parkway at Cherokee Drive, followed on by Martin’s, a new Pizza Hut and Burger King, Popeye’s Chicken, Mavis Tire, AT&T, Ellianos and many more.
A proposed housing development in the area coming soon will increase the number of potential customers for the entire corridor, along with the new restaurants once they open.
Expect construction to start sometime before summer’s official end, and be completed by early 2025 for both restaurants.
