Lankford Corner progress means potential for Spring 2025 opening

A project a decade in the making might finally be done in time for events to kick off the spring, if current construction work can be sustained and the weather holds out for contractors.

The City of Cedartown’s new Lankford Corner events center project is taking shape after foundations, utilities were finished over the past weeks and the trusses of the new center went up as the month began.

West Ware Street between South Main and South College Streets have been closed off in recent days as larger equipment has been on site, and likely will still be closed in coming days as the framing is completed on the site. Block work on other parts of the new building has also gotten underway.

The hopes are to have all the work done by the end of the first quarter of 2025, with the idea that construction might be done in time for a March finish. That would give the city the opportunity to begin hosting events at the new South Main Street events center at Lankford Corner – along with the Farmers Market – beginning in the spring.

Pending any weather issues or site problems, the next steps are to frame out the rest of the facility and get a roof overhead to enclose the building. That’ll allow crews to move onto interior work while others can finish exterior touches.
