Two new officers have joined a local police department, and another pair were honored for their hard work by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office in recent days.
First off, welcome a pair of new Rockmart Police Department officers who were sworn in for duty this morning. Here’s more from the Rockmart PD:

Judge Andrew Roper came over today to swear in our new officers. Corey Gray and Andrew Walters-Ballard are both ready to begin their field training program.
Over at the Sheriff’s Office, they honored two employees for the dedication on the job. Here’s what they had to say:
Commendations from Selective Enforcement UnitCongratulations to Both Patrol Sergeant Breton Watters and Jail Sergeant Caleb Thomasson on their hard work.
They have been commended by the Selective Enforcement Unit on their sharp observation skills, professional manner and their knowledge base of potential evidence for both drug crimes and the recent string of armed robberies occurring in Rockmart.
Both were crucial and instrumental in the arrest of several subjects that night and without them, the suspects would still be at large.
Great job guys! Super proud of you both and all your hard work!
Check back in for more updates on local law enforcement in the coming days.
