Local youth get creative with PB sandwiches for 2025 4-H Peanut Contest

Who doesn’t love a good PB&J?

Good thing none of the kids who took part in a countywide competition with the Polk County Cloverleaf 4-H for the state’s annual 4-H Peanut contest.

Youth were assigned the task in the competition of getting creative with their peanut butter sandwich recipes and submitting them for the countywide competition, sponsored by the Georgia Peanut Commission.

Several came up with something special and were awarded prizes for their efforts. The Best Overall award went to Silas Dyer at Young’s Grove Elementary School for his creation.

Additional awards went to Ward Graves at Westside Elementary and homeschooler Elise Blankenship, both sharing the Most Creative Award; Cheyenne Blankenship (also a homeschooler) took the Most Unusual prize; Most Nutritious went to Robin Thompson of Young’s Grove; Most Balanced Recipe was awarded to Isabel Bishop of Young’s Grove; the most Kid-Friendly recipe was awarded to Maddie Jo Harris of Eastside Elementary School.

The Polk County Cloverleaf 4-H offered their thanks to adult volunteers Jasmine Gugat and Sarah Brown for judging the sandwiches in this year’s competition.
