
Mrs. Mabel Gossett Dooley, age 103, of Cedartown, passed away on Wednesday, March 16, 2022.
She was born February 12, 1919 in Floyd County, to parents Allie Clayton Gossett and Irma Ezzell Gossett.
Mrs. Dooley is survived by daughter, Barbara Dooley Porterfield; son, Larry Dooley (Patti); grandchildren, Amy Monroe (Rob) and Lori Casey (Ben); and great-grandchildren, Pierce, Kate, Thomas Monroe, Knox, Banks, Gaines, and Corinne Casey.
Mrs. Dooley is preceded in death by parents; husband, Pierce Anderson Dooley; brothers, Sidney Gossett, Robert Gossett, and Earl Gossett; sisters, Grace Gossett, Mildred Gossett, and Ruth Gunter; son-in-law, John Billy Porterfield; and grandson, Michael Wayne Porterfield.
She was a longtime, faithful and oldest member of the Oak Grove Baptist Church. Her devotion to the children in the nursery for many years was one of her greatest pleasures. She was born at Sixmile in Floyd County and enjoyed being raised on a farm. She and Pierce had a dairy farm until he passed. She enjoyed her years of working at Belk Rhodes and became friends with all her customers.
The funeral arrangements for Mrs. Mabel Gossett Dooley will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2022 at two o’clock in the afternoon in the chapel of the Gammage Funeral Home with Rev. Wayne Benefield officiating and speakers, Mrs. Lori Casey, Mr. Pierce Monroe, Mr. Knox Casey, and Mr. Banks Casey. Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery.
The family of Mrs. Dooley will receive family and friends on Saturday, March 19, 2022 from one o’clock in the afternoon until the two o’clock funeral hour at Gammage Funeral Home.
The family has respectfully requested that flowers are to be omitted and donations can be made to the Oak Grove Cemetery Commission, c/o: Stewart Roberson, 133 Breckenridge Drive, Cedartown, GA 30125.
The following will serve as pallbearers: Rob Monroe, Ben Casey, Pierce Monroe, Kate Monroe, Thomas Monroe, Knox Casey, Banks Casey, Gaines Casey and Corinne Casey.
