A Rome man was picked up on felony and misdemeanor warrants after he was alleged to have committed an assault in early December 2023, according to reports.

James Eric Mackey, 51, of a Rome address, was booked into the Polk County Jail on Tuesday afternoon, June 25, on a trio of charges filed by the Polk County Police.

The report did not go into details on the assault, but noted that it had occurred in the Rockmart area and involved juveniles.

Police also reported covering a joint and a box of 9mm ammunition during the incident.

No further details were available.

Mackey remains in custody as of this posting without bond set on felony charges of aggravated assault and cruelty to children in the first degree, along with a misdemeanor cruelty to children in the third degree charge.
