A wreck today on Highway 278 at Springdale Road just within the city limits of Rockmart sent a man to the hospital after his motorcycle was struck by a woman who turned into traffic, according to police.

Rockmart Police Chief Randy Turner reported that Life flight was called in to take Marcus Turner, the driver of the motorcycle, to Atlanta’s Grady Memorial Hospital with serious injuries after he was struck by an SUV who pulled out in front of him onto Highway 278.

Chief Turner said the driver’s injuries were serious.

The driver of the SUV, Martha Steele, was found at fault in the incident according to Turner.

No additional information was available on the motorcyclist’s condition.
