Talk about a fast turnaround.
The dumpsters are already out in front of the Dollar General on South College Street as one store empties and another is set to open – or might be by the time this is already published.
As of earlier this afternoon, the final work was being done to move into the new location on West Avenue, replacing the store well past the warranty date on South College Street.
That location is now being listed by Hardy Realty while it is being cleaned out. Penny Pinchers and Rent-A-Center remain in the shopping center.
The new Dollar General is branded as a Dollar General Market, slightly larger than the typical standalone store and offering a wider variety of fresh and frozen goods than a normal location would – like the previous one on South College Street.
The store remains the 8th location built and operating in Polk County. The two most recent located on the western side of Polk at Lindsey Chapel Road and Highway 278, and Piedmont Highway and Cornelius Road.
Construction on this store opened just a few months ago, and the main work was wrapped up in just the past few weeks. The move out of the old store began last week as signage and branding for the new store went up and continued into the weekend.
