Mr. Troy “Wanye” Fortune

Mr. Troy “Wayne” Fortune, age 73, of Cedartown, Georgia passed away Sunday, June 13, 2021. He was born on March 8, 1948, in Cedartown to his late parents: Troy Lee Fortune and Mamie Lou Easterwood Fortune.

Wayne was the owner of The Brunswick Ballard also known as the pool hall for over 50 years and since 2008 had been serving Polk County school district as a bus driver. Wayne also served as an usher at Worldview Baptist Church. He never met a stranger, always meeting someone new. He will always be known as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend.

Mr. Fortune was preceded in death by his father, Troy Fortune, mother, Mamie Lou Fortune; brothers, Michael Fortune and Sammy Fortune.

He is survived by his wife, Janice Fortune; daughter, Felica Fortune; son, Samuel Fortune; stepdaughter, Tammy Dingler; sisters, Carylon Prince, Betty Jarrell, and Essta Lewis, several grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.


The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 17, 2021, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at Smith & Miller Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will follow at 4:00 PM in the chapel of the Smith & Miller Funeral Home, with Rev. Doyle Kelley officiating.

Interment to follow at Northview Cemetery.

The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Toby Messick, Tony Dawson, Little Tony Dawson, Tim Chapman, Clay Wilson, Chris Edwards.; Honorary pallbearer: Ricky Ayers.
