Mrs. Virginia Marie Johnson Mewborn, age 71 of Yorkville, passed away Monday, December 6, 2021.

Mrs. Mewborn was born October 22, 1950 in Marietta to the late Joe Johnson and the late Floy T. Brown Johnson. She worked as a cook at KFC for over 5 years. Mrs. Mewborn enjoyed dancing and cracking jokes. She loved her family and playing with her grandbabies.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Robert “J.R.” Mewborn, and sisters, Connie Simmons and Doris Barron.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Samantha and Wade Brock of Haralson County and Tara and Blake Jones of Cedartown; a brother, Floyd Johnson of Dallas; five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service for Mrs. Mewborn will be held Thursday, December 9, 2021, at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Freeman Harris Funeral Home with Rev. Owen (Bud) Davis, Jr. officiating.

The family will receive friends at Freeman Harris Funeral Home on Thursday, December 9, 2021, prior to the service from 12:00 P.M. until the memorial hour.
