Rockmart getting a replacement restaurant by this summer, Burger King later this year

A small gathering this morning saw a group grabbed the golden shovels and got construction officially underway for the new Pizza Hut location in Rockmart.

The City of Rockmart gathered with Tom Davis and members of his construction crew to celebrate the start of the latest business to begin building along the strip on Nathan Dean Parkway. Since this is replacing a current location, it leaves a spot open for you to have it your way at Burger King – hopefully before the end of 2023.

The new location is going to be much smaller than the older-style Pizza Hut that once featured salad bars, wait staff and regular dine-in specials. Now the chain is focus on the carryout and delivery aspect of their business after pandemic restrictions made dining out near impossible for many.

Rockmart’s new location will include a drive thru, and will sit further back on the property it is moving too just a short walk from where Pizza Hut has sat for the last decades.

The restaurant remains open as the new one is being built, and they’ll make a transition as soon as they are able to get into the new building. Expect the new Pizza Hut to be completed in June, but that is also based on weather conditions throughout the rest of the spring.

Burger King is going to take Pizza Hut’s place in the near future, but a construction timetable isn’t immediately available for when they’ll start to build the new addition to the commercial stretch along Nathan Dean Parkway from Piedmont Avenue/Hwy 101 to Goodyear Avenue/Hwy 113 intersections.

A growing number of pizza options are available in Rockmart as of the latest groundbreaking for the new Pizza Hut location. Marco’s Pizza just opened in December 2022, with Pizza Farm not far away across from Rockmart High School opening last year in their relocation within the city limits. Additionally, the city features Hometown Pizza, Little Caesar’s and Johnny’s New York Style Pizza.

Today’s groundbreaking also marks the third so far this year for new business within the area. A new car wash is set to open in front of Walmart, and Rockmart’s first liquor store will be opening soon off of Chattahoochee Drive as new commercial builds as well.
