It’s basically gospel at this point, folks: out with the old, in with the new is the mantra for Polk County in recent months and years.
Pizza Hut is no different as the Rockmart location is looking to shift to a delivery and carry-out only model permanently with the closure of the old location coming up this summer.
Not before a new Pizza Hut is set to be built, however.
Officials will be gathering for a ceremony on Wednesday to officially start the project to build a new, smaller Pizza Hut location on North Piedmont Avenue. It’ll sit almost directly behind where the current (old) Pizza Hut sits.
The current location will remain open through the expected 2-3 months of construction, with a June target date in mind of completion and opening. The smaller location will focus only on delivery and carryout for those who enjoy pizza, breadsticks, wings and more from the national chain.
What happens to the old Pizza Hut after the new opens?
Word right now is that it’s going to be torn down and construction will then begin on a new Burger King location.
GPS Hospitality, who owns the Pizza Hut location in Rockmart, owns a number of restaurants nationwide including Popeye’s Chicken locations, and Burger King locations as well – including several in Rome, Calhoun, Summerville, Cartersville, Villa Rica and the metro Atlanta area.
