Finishing touches left before new location ready for customers
Dollar General is no stranger to Polk County, and their newest location seems to have sprung up over the past couple of months to get ready for a grand opening.
Construction on the replacement store in Cedartown on West Avenue between Cherokee and Ledbetter Streets is moving into the final stages after crews spent the past three months clearing the land and constructing the new store.
Work crews began the work in early April to prepare the site for the steel-framed building that over the past weeks has taken shape with the exterior all completed – including the landscaping and parking lot.
There’s still some work left to do on the store. Work on the interior still needs to be wrapped up, and signage and branding needs to be completed as well. Then workers will have to come in and stock the new location as well before they are ready for opening day.
Entrances and exits from the new Dollar General are located on both Cherokee and Ledbetter Streets.
An opening date hasn’t been announced by the company as of this posting, but based on current progress expect the new store to open in August.
The new Dollar General on West Avenue will be replacing a store already open just a few blocks away. The store on South College Street will close down once the work is finished on this store.
Adding on the Piedmont Highway location opened in mid-May, Polk will continue to have eight stores within the county borders – four in the proximity of Cedartown, and three more in the area around Rockmart and Aragon.
Permission was given for another location on Highway 101 North near Silver Creek in Polk as well.
