The work is done, and the doors are now open at a new Dollar General location in Polk County.
The Highway 278 West (Piedmont Highway) and Cornelius Road location that began construction earlier this year is all done, and the new location opened just today.
Note that vendors were still arriving to provide stock for the store, so not all items may be available for purchase.
Drivers coming up Piedmont Highway into Cedartown should note the entrance is off of Cornelius Road, and they might want to slow down coming over the hill to avoid potential collisions with drivers who may be turning onto the two-lane highway to get to town or the Esom Hill area and beyond.
Dollar General has now completed the fifth store in the Cedartown area with today’s opening. A new replacement store on West Avenue is well underway and should be completed before summer’s end based on recent progress and weather.
The replacement store will take the place of the South College Street location next to Penny Pinchers when completed.
Dollar General locations also include one on Highway 27 South near the bypass, the Dollar General Market on North Main Street, a newer store at the intersection with Lindsey Chapel Road and Highway 278, plus stores in Rockmart and Aragon including one on Marquette Road at Highway 278, a newer store on South Piedmont Avenue in Rockmart, and a location in Aragon at Highway 101 and New Prospect Road.
Another location was requested last year by builders further north on Highway 101 to serve the area around Aragon and Silver Creek.
