UPDATE: One dead in wreck involving motorcylce, two trucks on Highway 27 South

Update as of 10:38 p.m.:

The Georgia State Patrol provided more information about a fatal wreck in Polk County earlier this afternoon that took the life of a Cedartown motorcycle rider.

At 3:39 p.m., a Harley Davidson model motorcycle being driven by Henry Hogue, 66, of Cedartown, was stopped at the intersection of Mildred Drive heading westbound, and attempted to cross over Highway 27 South when he entered the path of a 1996 Chevrolet GMT-400 truck heading northbound, and after he was struck on his left side was thrown into the path of a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado traveling southbound.

His motorcycle was trapped under the GMT-400 as both left the west side of the northbound lane, and both became engulfed in flames afterward.



Hogue died of his injuries on the scene.

GSP reported that the driver of the GMT-400 suffered minor injuries in the wreck and was transported to Floyd Medical Center.

The incident remains under investigation. Check back for any further details if they become available.

A fatality was reported this afternoon by local officials on Highway 27 South just past Cedar Valley Golf Course and the bypass around downtown Cedartown in a wreck.

Polk County Public Safety Director Randy Lacey and Polk County Coroner Norman Smith confirmed the death of a motorcyclist, who was involved in the wreck with a pickup truck at Highway 27 South around Sawmill and Mildred Roads.
