Sign up to take part in a walk that is hoping not to be about the winners of a race, but the individual champions who daily are fighting addiction in their lives and how the community as a whole can help them achieve their ultimate victory.
The upcoming One Stride at a Time Walk is all about raising awareness and providing help for a community organization focused on long term substance abuse recovery.
The 9 a.m. to noon event is scheduled for May 7 in Rockmart and starts at 404 E. Elm St. at Rockin’ Rooster & Happy Hen. An official path for the walk will be announced soon.
It’s not a race, but a walk – and a 1k fun walk – to help raise awareness about alcohol addition and abuse, and to help raise money for Mosaic Place to help those with all kinds of substance abuse problems find help and resources to help overcome their addiction.
It’s being organized by Rockin’ Rooster & Happy Hen’s owner Helen Riley, who lost her sister Claire Pollard Drogula in 2021. She’s organizing the event that is being held just a couple of months past a year after Claire’s passing.
Registration opened on March 18, the anniversary of Claire’s death.
Those who want to participate and help raise money and awareness for Mosaic Place and their mission to help those with substance abuse issues overcome their addictions through their individual journey, sign up here.
Registration is $20. All proceeds go to Mosaic Place.
