Signups are still underway and time is running out to take part in an event honoring the sister of a local business owner who passed away in 2021, and seeks to help a local organization in the process.

Mosaic Place is the beneficiary for the inaugural One Stride at a Time 5K Walk coming up on May 7, 2022. The event set to start at 404 E. Elm St., Rockmart is being held in honor of Claire Drogula, who passed in March 2021 after a long struggle with alcohol addiction.

Her sister Helen Riley, owner of Rockin Rooster & Happy Hen in Rockmart, is organizing the event as a fundraiser for Mosaic Place as a way to honor her sister’s memory, and help and organization whose main purpose is to help others in long-term recovery from substance abuse.

The cost is a $20 donation to participate. The walk is being held from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and is non-competitive.
