Polk County got a gully washer of a storm moving through overnight, and it left behind high waters for Cedar and Euharlee Creeks and left some roadways flooded and closed so far today.

The destruction left behind by the same storm front that left New Orleans’ Ninth Ward in shambles overnight from a tornado pushed through Polk County and dumped rainfall everywhere, and increased creek levels to the point where Big Springs Park is acting as a reservoir as the spring that provides Cedartown with water is shut off from the creek to keep floodwaters from rising.

Rebecca Crawford shared the above examples of flooding around downtown Cedartown this afternoon off of West Avenue around the new Goodyear Park Soccer Fields and the levee with Polk Today, along with these video clips as well from around the ball field on Prior Street:

The good news about the weather? Polk County will have the rest of the day to dry out, and through the rest of the week and into the weekend as temperatures stay in the low to mid 60s throughout the day and dip down into the 40s overnight and clear skies remain in the forecast.

Check back for additional weather-related updates when available, along with your photos and videos from today’s flooding later this evening.
