The Rockmart Police Department is investigating a house fire in the early morning hours, according to information immediately available.

Assistant Chief Jonathan Fuller reported that the fire was first reported at 4:21 a.m. at 506 College Street, Rockmart and saw members of Rockmart Fire and Rescue putting out the fire quickly. Damage was reported to the northeast corner of the residence.

Owned by Sherry Homes LLC, the College Street house was under renovation and unoccupied at the time.

Police are suspecting arson and additional investigative efforts are being undertaken today to determine an exact cause. No injuries were reported during the incident.
