PCFR reports overnight fire in Aragon

An overnight fire in Aragon destroyed a home, according to the latest post on social media from Polk County Fire Rescue.

Fire Chief Mike Hanuscin confirmed the fire that saw multiple units respond around 3:30 a.m. on Monday, March 3, to a Lanham Road residence that was already heavily burning and despite their best efforts weren’t able to save older home already more than 50% involved in flames.

Rockmart Fire responded alongside Polk County Fire Rescue units including members of stations 2, 3, 4, 6, 7 and 9 during the overnight fire. Several engines and tankers from stations also were utilized to help during the response due to the limited number of hydrants in the area and not enough space to turn their vehicles around.

The State Fire Marshal’s Office did respond to help figure out what caused the fire, but no information was yet available.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported and the residence was unoccupied at the time.
